Gorgeous ‘Cavapoo Caddy’ Molly – my latest commission for her golf mad Dad. My commissioned pieces make a luxurious gift for special occasions and loved ones. Printed onto heavyweight 100% cotton with archival pigments inks – the artwork has exquisite depth of colour and it so tactile and luxurious. This piece includes a little birthday poem that I wrote for my customer. I love adding little touches that makes the artwork extra special.

 Happy New Year! 

 Today my shops have reopened after a fabulous Christmas break. I’m having a fab day too, with three five star reviews posted on my Etsy shop in the last 24 hours – a wonderful surprise and start to the new year – hurray! 

 I’m now starting work on an art piece for competition winner Stanley Baxter and the remaining competition winners, including the new designs for my Spring 2018 collection. I’ll give you a little work in progress update with how things are coming along next week 🙂

 A huge thank you to everyone who has shared pics of your dogs with their competition prizes… I plan on posting them all in a little gallery on my blog so watch this space! 

 I’ve also just done a post office run so any competition winners still waiting for postcards should receive them tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. The Kasper cushion (one of the competition prizes) is now winging its way to Kasper 🙂 

 Finally for anyone who still has dog model aspirations for their pooch you can join my Dog Model Club where I will be periodically posting competition details and tips to improve your chances of being chosen, as well as special offers. My next search will be held late February/early March.

Yappy New Year!

I just thought I would write a little happy New Year message to anyone who visits the blog.

I’ve had a wonderful Christmas at home, recharging batteries, over indulging and even playing with the pooches in pristine crunchy snow – hurray!

I hope you and your fur babies have had a lovely Christmas too.

Today though I’m starting to feel like it’s almost back to reality, so I have spent the day trying to get back into the idea that it’s almost time to start work again… I’ve spent a couple of hours completing the Design Trust’s  mini questionnaire of how to review your your business year. As a creative and highly self critical person it’s always easy to think I haven’t done enough, or to feel frustrated that I haven’t brought many of my ideas to fruition… but today was about taking an honest and measured approach, looking at what I have achieved and where I need to focus my efforts in 2018. The questionnaire left me feeling positive about my achievements in 2017 and well prepared for the year ahead.

I plan to celebrate how far my small business has come and want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me… stockists, customers, pooches, teachers, followers, peers/fellow creatives, family and friends. I’ve feel very lucky to have so much support – thank you so much, I couldn’t have done it without you 🙂

Firstly, apologies, I’m real behind with LEAPUP blogs, lots has been happening but I ‘m not going to fit all my updates in here as there’s far too much to tell you. So, I thought instead I would post and say how much fun I’m having over on my Instagram account @LEAPUP

I’ve joined in with an Instagram challenge called #CoulourMyEveryDay by @adventuresandteaparties. Each day you have to post a colourful picture along that day’s theme or prompt. Having never joined in with anything like this before I have to say I’m so glad I did. Firstly I’ve ‘insta-met’ lots of other like minded creatives which has been fabulous.

Also, not forgetting @pippaquigley25  who has the most amazing wardrobe, I’m in awe (mainly because if I’m not at work I’m in my PJs) but wow to own a wardrobe that gorgeous and colourful would be awesome and check our her gorgeous wedding dress that she embellished herself!]

This challenge has also really helped me feel a little bit more inspired and creative, I’ve been thinking a little  bit more about colours and the prompt each day has meant I’ve been posting a more diverse range of images,  which I think adds much more interest to my account. I’ve started thinking more about moving images, I’ve started using Boomerang (still getting the hang of it) and I’ve made some stop motion videos, so yes the creative ‘sparks’ are really going at the moment! Yay!

Yay!!! Very happy that my print arrived safely in Michigan and hurray… 5 star feedback for my customised print.

My little King Charles Oscar print was turned into a personalised ‘big brother’ print to be given as a gift. Very happy that it made it all the way unharmed and so pleased to get lovely feedback too 🙂

Mission complete!

Very excited that my studio is finally complete! It’s taken all winter to do, fitting DIY around jobs and commitments has felt like a never ending chore but I’m soooo happy that we’ve put the effort in and it’s finally done – hurray!!!

So, this weekend has been all about finally getting in there, using the bright light and gorgeous white space to start trialling some new product photography… it’s been lots of fun. 😄 Everything I’ve read about starting a small business has said that product photography is key but to be honest I’ve found juggling so many things at once it’s never top of my to-do list.

I have to admit that product photography hasn’t been something that I’ve put a great deal of time or effort into but I’m now realising that yes I have a lot to learn and it’s a steep learning curve but it seems like it could be an incredibly rewarding outlet for my creativity too!

I’ve made it my goal this year to improve these skills and try to showcase my dog art and Etsy shop in a better light… so I’ll be keeping you posted on progress.

After my busy weekend of styling and snapping it’s now time for a cuppa. ❤
